Do You Really Want Newt ? by Beth Martinez

It really does seem at this point that  the Republicans will either have Romney or Gingrich to decide on this election year. Gingrich has surged in the polls, especially  once Cain  suspended his campaign. After pondering this for several weeks, I am confused. Sure, Gingrich is smart and his debate skills are without question, excellent. There is no doubt he could give Obama a run for his money in the debates. However, he does represent the good old boy  club more than any candidate. He has  been  in politics for over 3o years and has made his riches on Capitol Hill. His involvement with Freddie and Fannie is at its least, suspicious. He has been cozy with Nancy on Cap and Trade. He has had no or little discipline when it comes to  his marriages. He has had at least one illicit affair. That seems to spell disrespect for the commitments he made and for the  family unit. In 1997 Democrats filed a raft of ethics charges at him. Gingrich  pleaded guilty and in 1997 was fined more than $300,000.  He has been know to be undisciplined with his emotions and he has the personality of a rock. I met him at a book signing at CPAC and was, to put it mildly, disappointed in his enthusiasm towards his fans. I really can’t see him hugging little babies.

Romney, on the other hand has been in the private sector most of his life and has shown he is a very successful business man. He is a conservative economist, isn’t that what we need most right now? Sure he has changed his position on issues, but so has Gingrich. You can talk about the health care bill he implemented in the state of Massachusetts, but this was a state level program. He does not want to implement this on a federal level, as Gingrich has been quoted as supporting in previous years.

Finally, Romney is more desirable among independents. He appears to be able to operate more effectively as a leader. A leader unites and gets things done! Gingrich has been known to be explosive and alienate those who do not agree with him. In many leadership positions through out my military career, I learned through experience,  this will get you no where and accomplish absolutely nothing.

So, maybe Republicans need to give more thought on how they will vote.  Don’t be fooled by someone who says they know what to do for the economy versus someone who has proven they can improve the economy. That’s what happened in 2008. I’m just sayin…….

IMPACT

Well, whatever the voters decide, I am sure they all agree either one is better than our present leader. Who is most electable? That now becomes the decision people have to make. If Obama succeeds in this election it will be to the detriment of all Americans. He has shown himself to be an ineffectual leader, dividing rather than uniting. He continues to divide the nation through class warfare. Pitting the middle and lower class against wealthier Americans. His idea of fixing the economy is higher taxes and shovel ready jobs that were not so shovel ready. He refuses to agree to the XL pipeline, risking our energy security and dismissing the hundreds of thousands of jobs it will create. He passed a health care bill, in a questionably legal tactic, while he should have been working on the economy. Now Americans are seeing Obama care is in no way affordable and only 26% favor this bill. Fast and Furious, the program enforced by his attorney general, has killed Americans and hundreds of Mexicans and is being used to abolish our 2nd amendment rights. I could go on, but you get the idea, his presidency has been a ridiculous failure.
